Dr. Amit Maitreya is a highly respected ophthalmologist with over two decades of experience in clinical practice, academics, and research. He completed his MBBS (1994) and MS in Ophthalmology (1999) from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow, followed by a Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology from the prestigious Sankar Nethralaya, Chennai (2007–08). He also holds an MBA from Sikkim Manipal University.
Dr. Maitreya has held several academic positions at Sitapur Eye Hospital, Sitapur, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences and Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, Dehradun. He became Professor in Ophthalmology in 2018. He is recognized as the first Pediatric Ophthalmologist of Uttarakhand, a milestone achievement in the state’s eye care services.

Dr. Maitreya has also participated in unique global eye care initiatives such as the ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital Program and the Hospital on Wheels, reflecting his commitment to advancing ophthalmic care and education.
His core areas of expertise include Pediatric Ophthalmology, pediatric cerebral visual impairment (CVI), Cataract Surgery, and Academic Ophthalmology, combined with a strong focus on ethical, patient-centered care.
